An outdoor scene with a classic red and black vintage truck labeled 'Chells Scout Group' parked on a grass field. Next to the truck, there's a white tent with folding chairs inside, flanked by two purple flags with the Scout emblem and text. The background features leafless trees under a clear blue sky.

About Us

Two smiling event tent staff members taking a selfie inside a white event tent, both wearing navy blue shirts with a CartaKnights logo. They are outdoors with green trees and grass visible outside the tent.
Four teal-colored tents set up on green grass near a dense forest of tall trees, with a blue sky and some clouds above.

Our story begins in muddy fields, at Scout camps, and in places where the weather forecast is best treated as a polite suggestion.

As long-standing Scout leaders, we’ve spent over 20 years putting up tents in wind, rain, and the sort of conditions that make you question your life choices — which turns out to be excellent training for marquee hire in Britain!

At Canvas Knights, that Scouting experience underpins everything we do.

Planning ahead, problem-solving on the fly, and keeping calm when the ground is less “lawn” and more “bog” all come as second nature.

A marquee, after all, is only as good as the people putting it up!

We specialise in high-quality marquees and pagodas for weddings, parties, and community events, and we’re particularly good at working in non-traditional locations. Fields, private land, club grounds — if there’s a viable spot, we’ll help you find it.

A Small Detour (Literally)

Some years ago, our dedication to Scouting took a slightly more mechanical turn when we acquired a 1925 Morris Cowley van.

Naturally, we had it painted in Chells Scout Group colours and proudly sign written in gold leaf.
Sensible? Perhaps not.

But it made us smile.

The van has become something of a symbol for us - a reminder that we value craftsmanship, tradition and doing things properly, even when there are quicker or cheaper options.

Those same values carry straight through into Canvas Knights.

Meet the team

Mike:

Usually the one on site, often up to his ears in mud, tape measure in hand, and smiling regardless of the weather. Years of Scouting have taught him that there’s always a solution — and that it’s best found before anyone notices there’s a problem.

Victoria:
The calm voice of reason and the one who keeps everything organised behind the scenes. While Mike is outside wrestling canvas and pegs, Victoria is making sure dates, details, and logistics are exactly where they should be — which is why things actually run on time.

A man taking a selfie in his backyard with a partially assembled outdoor canopy or gazebo, a ladder, and various tools and materials scattered around.
Young woman smiling outdoors at a campsite, wearing a maroon apron and a blue shirt, with laundry hanging on a line and trees in the background.

we believe in doing things properly: turning up when we say we will, treating your event like it matters (because it does), and leaving the site tidy enough that you won’t be finding pegs months later.

The name Canvas Knights is a small nod to those values — dependable, prepared, and quietly proud of our craft.

Armour is optional. High standards are essential.

Whether you’re planning a wedding, a party, or a community event, we’re here to make it straightforward, stress-free, and very well covered.

Together,

Mike & Victoria
